In Russia, there are many celebrations throughout the year. Some of the most popular ones include:
1. New Year’s Eve — This is the biggest celebration of the year in Russia. People gather with their families and friends to celebrate the arrival of the new year. Activities during this celebration include decorating a New Year’s tree, exchanging gifts, and watching fireworks.
2. Maslenitsa — This is a week-long celebration that takes place before the start of Lent. During this celebration, people eat pancakes, participate in traditional games and activities, and burn a straw effigy of Lady Maslenitsa to symbolize the end of winter.
3. International Women’s Day — This holiday is celebrated on March 8th and is a day to honor and appreciate women. Men often give women flowers and small gifts, and there are often special events and performances.
4. Victory Day — This holiday is celebrated on May 9th and commemorates the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in World War II. Activities during this celebration include parades, fireworks, and laying flowers at war memorials.
