Liquids, solids and gases. Which is the odd word out in each group? — Жидкости, твердые вещества и газы. Какое лишнее слово в каждой группе?
Ответ от учителя
The odd word out in each group is «gases».
In the group of liquids, all the substances have a definite volume but no definite shape. They take the shape of the container they are in. For example, water takes the shape of the glass it is poured into.
In the group of solids, all the substances have a definite shape and volume. They maintain their shape even when they are moved or touched. For example, a brick maintains its shape and volume even when it is picked up or moved.
In the group of gases, the substances have no definite shape or volume. They take the shape and volume of the container they are in. For example, air takes the shape and volume of the room it is in.
Therefore, the odd word out in each group is «gases» because it does not have a definite shape or volume, unlike liquids and solids.
