My favorite TV family in my country is the Johnsons from the hit sitcom «Black-ish». The show follows the lives of Andre Johnson, his wife Rainbow, and their four children as they navigate their way through life as a successful African American family living in a predominantly white neighborhood.
Andre Johnson, played by Anthony Anderson, is a successful advertising executive who is constantly trying to find ways to keep his family connected to their cultural roots. His wife Rainbow, played by Tracee Ellis Ross, is a doctor who often finds herself caught between her husband’s desire to keep their family connected to their heritage and her own desire to assimilate into mainstream American culture.
Their four children, Zoey, Junior, Jack, and Diane, are all unique in their own way. Zoey, played by Yara Shahidi, is the eldest and is often portrayed as the typical teenage girl who is more interested in her social life than her studies. Junior, played by Marcus Scribner, is the middle child and is often portrayed as the nerdy, socially awkward one. Jack and Diane, played by Miles Brown and Marsai Martin, are the youngest and are often portrayed as the mischievous troublemakers of the family.
The show is known for its witty humor and its ability to tackle serious issues such as race, class, and gender in a lighthearted and relatable way. The Johnsons are a lovable and relatable family that viewers can’t help but root for. They remind us that no matter what our differences may be, we are all just trying to navigate our way through life and find our place in the world.
